We’re Trader Rater, a mobile app that allows users to screen and review buyers and sellers from online marketplaces such as Craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo, Facebook buy & sell, and more!
We know how complicated, frustrating, and sometimes scary meeting buyers & sellers from Craigslist can be, and that’s why we’ve attempted to bring transparency into this dark corner of the internet. One of our co-founders was a victim of theft on Craigslist, and while it was an unfortunate situation, it was also where the idea was born.
While sites like Craigslist are some of the best places to find deals on anything you could ever want or need, there are also (unfortunately) scammers, time-wasters, and unprofessional buyers and sellers. What makes this worse is that there are no reviews or ratings associated with the site in order to warn others.

That’s where we come in! Our easy-to-use app lets you search potential buyers or sellers by phone number, read reviews posted by others, and then leave a review once you’ve completed your transaction. Even if the transaction doesn’t end up going through (i.e. they didn’t show up, they offered you less than the agreed upon price, etc.), you can still leave them a review so others know that they have a history of this type of behavior!
Unlike other buying/selling/reviewing platforms, we do not try to stifle your voice by editing or deleting reviews. What you post is what everyone sees, and we do not feel that it is our right to dictate what is written. This allows users to find candid, honest, and somewhat spirited reviews.
Along with this, we at Trader Rater do not sort reviews in a way that might limit negative ratings from showing. We aim to make our review system as honest, genuine, and straightforward as possible, our interests are completely in line with keeping customers safe.
It was our goal to provide users a platform to voice their opinions, warn others, and get justice after they have been victimized or taken advantage of. Now we must use this tool to prevent bad actors from behaving with impunity and make community marketplaces safer for everyone involved.
